CytoSport Cytomax Natural Review

I've finally found the perfect sports drink! I needed something with electrolytes and amino acids without food colouring or excessive chemicals. Hello, Cytomax Natural! I tried the Cool Citrus (natural) first and it was... tolerable. I'm so grateful I only got the small bin, though. It tastes and smells excessively chemically-- yuck! But it worked fantastically and didn't make me sick so I could go through tons of it, even with the taste and smell being so-so.
However, Natural Tangy Orange is *delicious*. The taste is somewhere between orange Tic-Tacs and orange gatorade, although less gross than either of those. I really like the taste. Whereas I barely tolerated the cool citrus, I can't get enough of the orange! Good thing I ordered the large tub.
There are a few cons, however: cost and messiness. If they had a sale on this stuff or even offered free shipping I would jump on it in a heartbeat! it's just so expensive. =/ But since it works amazingly and keeps me going better than anything else I've tried I guess I'll have to keep buying it. Secondly, it really does get all over everything. If you have a small-mouthed bottle, you should probably invest in a funnel! I use a funnel to scoop the powder in (about 2.5 scoops for my 25 oz bottle), put the lid on, and shake it really good for about a minute.
It does what it says, and now that I've tried it for a while I'm hooked.

Dietary supplement. Sustained energy and electrolytes. Proven acid buffering. Stabilizes power output. Reduces perceived exertion. Reduces oxygen consumption. Increases recovery rate. Caffeine free. Low sodium. No sucrose. No Aspartame. Cytomax with sustained energy. No other exercise drink can match Cytomax's proven performance. University studies have proven that Cytomax: Lowers lactic acid level during and after training by 40% for less burning and cramping during training and less soreness after, so you can beat the burn! Stabilizes power output during intense exercise by over 10% for more strength especially towards the end of your workout. Reduces perceived exertion by 20% so you feel less fatigued during training. Reduces oxygen consumption rate by 11% at the same performance level. This leaves you with more wind (more of V02-max remaining) for even higher performance. Increases recuperation rate by over 10% to reduce frustrating strength variations from one workout day to the next. In addition, Cytomax contains electrolytes, no sucrose, and just enough sodium. These results are possible because of the discovery of a unique, patented, new energy component: Alpha-L-Polylactate (lactate with acid removed, clustered around amino acids and carbohydrates). This type of lactate is efficiently used for energy, like carbohydrate, but enters tissue 2-10 times faster and decreases tissue acidity. Alpha-L-Polylactate combined with our special complex carbohydrates gives you sustained energy. This means that in University studies, athletes had better performance after 3 hours of intense exercise with Cytomax than with another leading exercise drink. Cytomax helps keep strength at peak levels longer so you can train harder. If you are trying to improve stamina and speed, Cytomax will

CytoSport Monster Milk Review

CytoSport Monster Milk
Average Reviews:

This product is my ideal.
#1. It's high in protein. 50 g protein per serving, (2 scoops); and only 23% of calories from fat.
#2. It's Lactose free: there are few protein powders out there that are lactose free, since most are whey/milk-based. Monster Milk is also milk/whey-based, but they've removed the lactose, so it doesn't give me gas. A big plus at the gym and at home! I have tried soy-based powders in order to avoid lactose & whey and they are bland, chalky and leave un-blended lumps in the blender.
#3. The vanilla flavor is great, rich and not chalky.
#4. It blends smoothly with no residual lumps in the corners or sides of the blender like other powders do.
I add it to water with a slash of CranRaspberry Juice and it's the best.

Muscle Milk Light Bar Review

Muscle Milk Light Bar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I tried the Muscle Milk drinks. They are high protein and filling and I like that I can find them in Lactose Free varieties - chocolate and vanilla. So I thought I'd give the protein bars a go for a change from all that fluid intake(and output). I went with the Muscle Milk Light Chocolate Peanut Caramel. The bars were also zero lactose which is a plus in my case(I have a really really bad relationship with dairy products).
Nutrition info wise - they appealed to me as well. High protein 15 grms;low sugar 9 gr(compared to other protein bars), 170 calories - which are filling and satisfying ,0 cholesterol,6 gr fat(4 saturated, 0 trans)sodium - 105mg,100mg potassium and 4 gm of dietary fiber - not too bad - remember these are the "light" bars. If you are looking for a good source of vitamins and minerals, you won't find that here, so I don't think I would use them as a meal replacement. Also - there are 18 gr of carbs.
The taste was good - very chocolaty and a good taste of the caramel filling as well. The bar is small but hefty weighing in at 1.59 oz. And I found that it was a great way to control hunger between meals. I found though, they stuck to and between my teeth, so this is not something I would eat on the run or right before an important meeting. You really need to brush or rinse afterwards.
The ingredients, which include a bunch of stuff that just doesn't sound too healthy(a couple I couldn't pronounce) and the sticking to my teeth factor, keep me from going 4 or 5 stars.
Here are the ingredients(for the chocolate caramel peanut bar):
Hydrolyzed Gelatin, polydextrose, evaporated cane juice solids, whey protein isolate, fractionated palm kernel oil, milk protein isolate, water, honey roasted peanuts(peanuts, sugar, peanut and/or canola oil, honey, salt, modified potato starch and xanathan gum)corn syrup, nonfat dry milk, glycerin, high maltose corn syrup, peanut flour, cocoa powder, soy lecithin, crystalline fructose, natural and artificial flavors, partially hydrogenated palm oil, salt, butter, sucralose
What the heck is fractionated palm kernel oil or crystalline fructose anyway? Partailly hydrogenated palm oil - isn't that the stuff that all the experts say to stay away from?
Also included milk, peanuts, soy and manufactured in a facility that processes tree nuts.I'm guessing the dairy products like milk are something like "Lactaid" that doesn't have the lactose. I had no lactose intolerant problems with these.
The shelf life looks to be about a year from the manufacture date.
So 3 stars I guess for being high protein, good tasting and lactose free -a VERY occasional snack.
Remember to breathe, eat healthy and enjoy!.....Laurie

CytoSport Fast Twitch Power Workout Drink Mix Review

I must say I cannot agree with the other reviewer in that I thought the grape flavor tasted great, kinda like a slightly bitter, yet refreshing grape kool-aid. Everyone is different though and/or perhaps he got a bad batch, not sure, but I liked it....also I thought FAST TWITCH(GO GRAPE) had better taste, texture and performance than NO-XPLODE!!!! So forget the coffee and dump the pills, this stuff works WAY better than any pre-workout stimulant I have ever tried.

CytoSport Muscle Milk Light Review

If you're searching for the BEST TASTING protein mix, this is it hands-down! But if you're like me, you'll soon find that it gets quite expensive and you're always running low or out of it because of the SMALL cans. I started out with the 1.65 lb cans and with only 15 servings per container, that was lasting only ONE WEEK with one shake in the morning and one after a workout or Tae Kwon Do class. This 3.3 lb can will get you through 2 weeks at 2 shakes a day...But you're still talking about $90/month or more for a protein supplement. And if you take 3 a day (directions suggest 2-3 servings/day), then you'll go through the 1.65 lb can in 5 days and this 3.3 lb can in 10 days. At that rate, you'll also be paying around $130-$150/month at current Amazon prices. While I have found "cheaper" prices online, they stick it to you on shipping charges and can take several days to get it to you. Amazon's Muscle Milk Light prices with FREE 2-day Prime shipping are pretty hard to beat!
The TASTE is simply excellent! It tastes more like a melted Vanilla Frosty from Wendy's than a protein supplement. However, I kept looking for alternatives because it really does get expensive. I went through a process and found an acceptable substitute that may help those of you also searching for a protein supplement that works, tastes good and doesn't break the bank. Long story short, here's what I mix:
1 scoop of EAS Premium Vanilla Protein Powder 6 Lb Bag (Pack of 5)
1 scoop of Freak Fix-Muscle Asylum Project Protein Matrix, Pure 2lb White Vanilla
1 scoop of Corvalen M® (12 oz, 56 servings)
Mix these with about 10-12 oz of water. This is a very good tasting shake that has not only helped me with new muscle growth...But I also "feel" like my muscles are stronger, and this is something Muscle Milk Light never did for me. I won't bore you with all of the details of each of these supplements, but some are worth mentioning. A 6 lb bag of the EAS sells for about $25 at our local Costco. There are 78 2-scoop servings per bag, meaning it lasts me 78 days at 2 shakes/day at my above mix. The 2 lb Freak Fix container currently sells for $9.95 each with FREE Prime shipping at Amazon (I just ordered 3 more). The scoop is HUGE and at 14 2-scoop servings per container, it lasts me 14 days. NOTE: AVOID THE CHOCOLATE Freak Fix, unless you're feeling particularly gutsy...It's horrible tasting, a weird purplish color and it looks like you've been eating pure tar after you drop the kiddies off at the pool (go #2). Stay with the vanilla. The Corvalen M works at a cellular level and has been "clinically proven to restore cellular energy needed to promote healthy tissue function, increase exercise tolerance and improve quality of life." It's not cheap, but it works. The Corvalen M has 56 1-scoop servings per container so it lasts me 28 days.
I can drink one of these shakes and go through a 1-hr Black Belt class followed immediately by a 45-min Family Class with my boys, and still be ready for MORE...And I'm not sore the next day! This "formula" combines 2 very good whey protein supplements (each with their own "advantage" claims) with the Corvalen M needed to maximize the use of the proteins at the cellular level. For 2 shakes a day, every day, it costs me about $75 per month and I honestly think I could spend 5 times that much and not get the results I get with my protein shake recipe. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
UPDATE: Wow...Our local Costco just replaced the above EAS 6 lb bag of protein with a MUSCLE MILK 6 lb bag of Whey Protein for only $28.99! Unbelievable! CytoSport makes the best tasting protein you're going to find anywhere, and this is just a GREAT PRICE for 80 servings per bag. I still like the Freak Fix vanilla from above and I now mix 1 scoop of it with 1 scoop of Corvalen M and 1 scoop of CytoSport Muscle Milk 100% Whey Protein 27g 6lb Bag of Vanilla. The result is a HIGH-POWERED, great-tasting protein shake that provides your body with 44g of protein per shake and only costs about $43/month at 1 shake/day. This is 88% of the "Daily Value" and is A LOT OF PROTEIN for most people! You don't want to overload your kidneys with too much protein to process and you can simply adjust the amount you want/need by adjusting the scoop size (eg., 1/2 a scoop instead of a full scoop). Remember that you also get protein through a normal diet. I LOVE THIS SHAKE!! I hope you do too...

Well here's the famous Muscle Milk.
If you are thinking about getting this product but you are not sure if it is appropriate for you let me let you know why it probably is, or probably isn't or at least you should go easy on it.
Although this is no "weight gainer", it is between a regular protein powder and weight gainer, since 2 scoops have 350 calories. 160 of those are from fats, 8 of them saturated. MCTs fats are easily burned as energy, but you can still find nutritionists that say that's just not true. So it's up to you. I would go with bodybuilders and athletes that love the product since, well, they are the, literally, living proof.
When should you drink it? The manufacturer tells you that you should consume it after waking up, before working out, after working out, and before sleeping...hehe well manufacturers are always telling us to consume their product as much as we can for "better results" but the truth is that supplements should be used wisely and aren't magic so don't worry about consuming it 4 times a day. Besides, 160 times 4 are 640 calories from fat. That's 30% of 2000. You should get about 25% of your calories from fat (if you really wanna be lean) so if you mix the muscle milk with soy milk and you eat close to 3000 calories, that's almost all the fats you should get. Nothing else, no peanut butter, no almonds, etc. Besides there's no really need of muscle milk after waking up and before workout. Everyone knows that whey protein is the best pre workout protein due to its fast effect. But I get it after workout and before sleeping.
Does it work? Well, if you have a good workout and you have a good diet it does work. I have dropped some body fat % since I started to take it and I have gained some muscle mass without gaining any fat. I recommend mixing this with soy milk or low fat milk at night and not getting anything else.
Getting calories from fats at night is fine, when we sleep we burn calories and most of them from protein and fats. But we don't burn that many carbs while sleeping. Don't get me wrong, I don't live the "low carb lifestyle", but I go easy on them at night. If you get less than 30 grams of them in the last hours of the day you'll be fine. That's why muscle milk is a good choice for pre sleep protein since it has little carbs.
For post workout I recommend the same mixture of Muscle Milk and soy or low fat milk but eat fruits too. You need carbs after workout and the fats will help a lot since carbs work better with fats (and protein too. In fact, fats are much better being consumed to join carbs and protein).
Now , I'm not gonna say this is the best tasting bodybuilding powder in the world because I haven't tried them all...but it is the best I have ever tried and I doubt there's anything better. I just love every flavor. The cookies and cream is just delicious, almost like an ice cream. And it barely has sugar. You won't find a better tasting powder, I'm sure of that.
If you are on a diet trying to lose that belly I wouldn't recommend this to you. But if you are already lean or have always been and now your goals is getting lean muscle, then go ahead.
The price is the only turn off though but if you think a good product and with an awesome taste makes the price of a product even more worth it, go ahead.

AMERICA'S FAVORITE PROTEIN DRINK!When MUSCLE MILK was first introduced, CytoSport scientists attempted to emulate one of nature's most anabolic, complete, and balanced foods: human mother's milk. MUSCLE MILK broke the mold, creating a new category of protein supplements while setting a new standard for both taste and performance. As a result, muscle milk has become America's favorite protein drink. But the science of human metabolism is never static; our understanding of its complexity is expanding everyday. Recently the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC) published a report that updated America's Nutritional goals. Cytosport scientists have evaluated the report and have updated MUSCLE MILK to keep pace with these new developments. No matter what you ultimate goal may be building muscle mass or sculpting a toned, muscular physique-controlling caloric intake and specific physical activity go hand-in-hand with managing your total weight. When it comes to defining weight control, calories do count. Most Americans need to reduce the number of calories they consume. Since lipids or fats contain approximately twice the caloric energy carbs, minimizing the total fat content in MUSCLE MILK-while maintaining the overall fat-burning benefits of LEANLIPIDS-helps to accomplish this goal.* Picture may be of different size or flavor
