(More customer reviews)I have used Pak, Stak, Flex, Nitro, and Pump. I have also learned a lot since I started training that I think will be valuable to others. First, this is a product that is supposed to help with strength and mass building. It is not Pump and doesn't give you an energy boost like Pump does when you're working out because that isn't its purpose.It did however, help me get results fast (increased muscle mass)in a month after putting on weight from an injury. It also helped me increase my strength. During this time I ate a fairly clean high protein diet and did 30 mins of cardio about 3-4 days a week. I slept around 7 hours and learned that more sleep helped training more than anything else. Something that the [...] website also advocates. My recommendation is that this product does what its supposed to, but you have to understand how to use it and your training.Tons of great advice and info on the [...] site and a blog if you need any advice. They even give you full workouts without signing up. Awesome!

Creatine Monohydrate Powder (Twinpack) Review

(More customer reviews)I read a bunch of reviews about the various popular creatine products out there. Many positive reviews pointed to this Prolab creatine as the most cost-effective creatine out there. This is the only creatine that I've ever used, so I can't compare it with others.
My friend told me that I needed to start using creatine and protein powder in order to really buff up and get definition. I gained about 15 pounds of muscle in 4 months using this Prolab creatine and Optimum Nutrtion's 100% whey protein. I also lost about 15 pounds of fat.
Unfortunately, I got a shoulder injury about 5 months ago and stopped working out, but recently I started working out again...but I didn't take my creatine...I didn't want to waste it, since in my mind, I was out of shape! ...I was so exhausted and my muscles were extremely sore for about 5 days after workouts. But I recently started taking my creatine once again, and now after workouts my muscles don't feel sore at all. This creatine really helps your muscles recover VERY quickly after a workout. If you truly want to work out hard at the gym, you definitely need to take creatine IMO. If you don't, you'll feel tired all the time for days after your workout, then you'll just want to quit going to the gym. Use it!
To save money, you really only need to take a teaspoon of creatine before a workout. I usually take it mixed with my protein powder in milk (with a bit of sugar to help process the creatine). The labels on most creatine packages say to take 2-3 teaspoons of creatine a day, but I think that is a waste...I never noticed much improvement in my own muscles taking more than 1 teaspoon a day. I only workout about twice a week now, so I only take creatine 20 minutes before each workout - this seems to be the most cost-effective solution for me. During the summer I will increase my workouts and consumption of protein and creatine though.
1/29/10 Update:
I now use a different creatine that dissolves better in liquid and seems to give better results for me, it's called, "MRM - Creatine Monohydrate 1000" - Amazon sells this. This Prolab doesn't dissolve as fast, nor as fully as the MRM does. The MRM is just as cheap. Also, I think I developed muscle spasms after taking this Prolab after a few months of continuous use (late at night my arms and legs would jerk and wake me up - it became very annoying - perhaps this Prolab creatine was dehydrating me...). I don't have these spasms anymore after switching to the MRM creatine.

Can't say I have tried any other creatine products for comparison, but I would reccomend taking it if your going to the gym and your serious about getting more sets in a workout.

I don't like to use products with caffeine or other strong stimulants but at the same time I need some energy for my early-morning workouts. This does the job perfectly. I sip it in between sets and it gives me just enough energy to get through the next set. It also supplies some extra creatine and amino acids. Don't expect a miracle powder, there are none. But if you want a little boost before each set, this does the job. Unlike most of the body building "energy" supplements out there that I have tried that are full of caffeine you don't get buzzed and then feel depleted afterwards.

I also am not as sore as i normally am after an intense workout. If there were a six star I would give it five just isnt enough!!! I do prefer the Punch to the grape but grape isnt that bad.. (More customer reviews)I took this stuff when it first came out and the directions were VERY strict on it. It included NO fish oil, NO nuts, NO fish, NO olive oil, NO anti-inflammatories, NO NSAIDS, NOTHING that inhibits the prostaglandin formation in muscle tissue.
For the uninformed, Prostaglandins are like hormones except produced locally in the area where their effects are needed to help. They are necessary in the inflammatory process and the healing processes of the body.
Arachidonic acid (X factor) is the base fatty acid that is turned into prostaglandins. It also has been shown to feed enzymes in the prostate that create growth factors for the prostate itself. It is found in red meat, dairy fat, and basically any natural food that is supposed to be an inflammatory (usually also promotes heart disease as well). Not to say that it DOES promote heart disease. In fact IL-6 was lowered in subjects taking X factor.
Now the product doesn't have such strict guidelines. Molecular nutrition has a list on a few body building messageboards. I'll leave that to you to look at. Two bottles are necessary for one 50 day cycle. That's cheaper than most (Formerly Legal) anabolics used to cost and certainly costs less than most of the legal ones now (Halodrol, 6-OXO, M1-D, adrenosterone, etc.)
During and after usage it pays to take other muscle builders/anti-catabolic supplements (BCAAs, Leucine, Nitric Oxide stimulators, Creatine, glycerol, protein, test boosters, etc. It's your choice on what you want to add to it) and go for a hypertrophy training style with enough ADDITIONAL calories to build mass. In addition, expect things like extra soreness, some lethargy, possible acne, etc. There are a lot of people out there and everyone is going to have a different reaction.
Taking more will improve results, but to many the soreness would be unbearable. Safe levels of X factor have been shown at 3 grams a day. The suggested dose is 1 gram.
On the upside, the pumps are unbelievable, the muscle gains are permanent (provided you keep training and eating right), and the gains come quicker than almost any other non-hormonal substance to date.
Weigh the consequences and the benefits. See if it's for you because it's not for everybody. Realize that it works on PRO-INFLAMMATORY concepts. Most people would not accept this as it exacerbates certain joint issues, inflammatory diseases, and some cardiovascular risks.
Oh and a final word of advice. Since you CANNOT eat a lot of anti-inflammatory foods and most FATS, which are calorically dense, usually have such qualities you MUST use a fat that doesn't. The only one people seem to agree on (and is advocated by the creator of the supplement) is COCONUT OIL. Yes it's full of saturates but it's not as bad for you as your think. BUT... that's another review.

(More customer reviews)I've tried several different kinds of protein, with various results. I can tell you that this is the top two best tasting proteins I've had.
Of course, you have to like cinnamon, a lot. I use a Magic Bullet to mix all my shakes, and mix a scoop of this with 6 to 8 ounces of milk and a teaspoon of l-glutamine. Mixing with a spoon will till leave small chunks. With a blender or magic bullet it mixes to a nice, smooth consistency. My wife still found it kind of "gritty" but compared to other proteins I disagree. Great for a post dinner snack. Only 130 calories when mixed with water.
You get 18 servings in the relatively small container, with 20 grams of protein per serving. This protein does have 3 grams of fat per serving (which I'm sure helps with the taste), so keep that in mind if you're watching your fat intake.
The only other protein I've found that mixes and tastes nearly as good is GNC's Amplified Wheybolic Extreme. Best tasting stuff yet, but way too expensive.
I'll definitely continue to use this product and look forward to trying the other flavors. However, this is a backup, or occasional "treat" protein and not my main supplement. That honor currently goes to Natures Best Zero Carb, has more than twice the protein but tastes absolutely horrible.
