(More customer reviews)Fellow horseback riders, you'll want to own this fun machine!! After reading the reviews here on Amazon, I went to Brookstone to try one of these before buying. Not only did I come home with one, but so did my riding buddy. (They were on sale at considerably less than half the retail price of $600.)
It has 3 speeds of the same side-to-side/circular motion, plus a 4th setting that randomly goes through the 3 speeds. In all cases, the motion approximates the 4-beat, lateral gait of a horse who's walking or racking.
Speed One is like riding a large horse who has a very clunky walk. Speed Two speeds up and smooths out a bit. It's like riding a gaited horse who's not smooth enough to want to buy. Speed Three speeds up again and smooths out even more. Fold your arms and hold them up in front of your chest, keep your shoulders steady, absorb the motion in your hips, and you'll feel like you're racking down the road on a decent horse at a good clip.
I've had all sorts of exercise machines over the years, but nothing has ever been as fun as this. It seems effortless to ride, and yet, both my riding buddy and I were surprised (and delighted) to feel some stiffness in all sorts of muscles. It's also strengthening my back which was injured in a horse wreck years ago.
The DVD that comes with it shows many additional exercises that you can do while balancing on this thing (if you're young and agile!), but I'm just having fun horsebackin' in front of the TV!
UPDATE: I've had my iGallop more than 3 months now and I still love it. I ride a minimum of 30 minutes every day, and an hour whenever possible (this is easy to time as the machine automatically runs for only 15 minutes - to continue, just hit the start button again). I've lost more than 5 pounds and an inch from my waist and hips. I credit this largely to the iGallop since I haven't changed anything else in my diet or exercise program.
2nd UPDATE ALMOST A YEAR LATER: I still love this machine, but am now on my second one thanks to my having purchased an extended warranty (doubling the original 12 months to 24). Six weeks shy of my one-year purchase date, my iGallop suddenly made noise, smelled of smoldering plastic and flopped loosely (and, no, I'm petite, so my weight didn't wreck it [grin]). I took it to Brookstone and they were wonderful about replacing it on the spot, leaving me with 13 months to go on the same warranty should I need yet another replacement(s). Soooo, moral of the story is; if you're offered an extended warranty, you may want to consider it.

Well, let me just say this: Yes and No. You have to be in shape to see those results. I am 20 pounds overweight, as I try to lose weight. However, when I look in the mirror and suck my stomach in, I see the ab muscles that I have never seen before. I am already in my 30th session and I know I will see more results as time goes on. If you are an average weight and want to see and strenghten your ab muscles, this should do the trick, because it STRENGHTENS your ab muscles, it doesn't just paint them on your stomach. So if you are 100 pounds overweight and expect to see rock-hard abs in a week, I wouldn't recommend this product. However, if you are trying to lose weight and/or already in good shape but have weak and underdeveloped abs, you may consider investing in this. How do I know this? This device sends vibration to your abs and has levels from 1 to 99, with 1 beaing weakest and 99 being the most intense. During the first few days, I couldn't handle the sensations over 50 as I felt like somebody grabbed me by my stomach and wouldn't let go, but now, I can easily handle vibrations over 85, which means my abs did become stronger than a month before!
Other things to consider: You will invest $150 into this and possible $15 per month on new pads as they slowly get stretched and deteriorate. With that type of investment, you can easily joiin a gym membership, if you think about it.
Bottom Line: A good buy if used properly but expensive considering the alternatives such as gym, where you can excersise your whole body, as Selndertone Flex just targets one part of the body.

Just a tip, if you've never used it before, don't try to be a tough guy and do a rep from your feet. You may be tough, but you might also hurt your back. Start on your knees until you know for sure you're a tough guy.

They have a phone number that automatically puts you on hold when you call, no automated voice that lets you select what you are calling for at all, just the hold music. No one picked up, sat on the phone literally waiting for 45 minutes with no one picking up. I watched an entire tv show waiting for this. Tried emailing them twice with no response, Amazon even responded reminding me that I had sent an email to them but the company did no such thing. All I wanted was an exchange, not even a refund, just so I could get a working belt. This company is completely shady with no customer support at all, never ever buy from them because you will never be able to contact anyone in case something goes wrong.

(More customer reviews)i had my doubts before trying the product, but was actually pretty happy with it's performance. it is in no way a weight loss device, but i can really feel the tightening of my core muscles and the slimming, more pulled in, look of my abdomen. if you need to lose excess pounds, this product is not for you, but if you are already fairly thin and just need some help toning up then this is a really great product. it really does reach all your core muscles, much more than crunches alone. it helps tighten you up all the way around, stomach, sides and back. the only downside i would say is having to buy the replacement pads, but it's still a better deal than doing endless crunches.
