Slendertone Men's Flex Abdominal Toning System Belt Review

Slendertone Men's Flex Abdominal Toning System Belt
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm sure the #1 question of everyone's mind is: DOES IT WORK???
Well, let me just say this: Yes and No. You have to be in shape to see those results. I am 20 pounds overweight, as I try to lose weight. However, when I look in the mirror and suck my stomach in, I see the ab muscles that I have never seen before. I am already in my 30th session and I know I will see more results as time goes on. If you are an average weight and want to see and strenghten your ab muscles, this should do the trick, because it STRENGHTENS your ab muscles, it doesn't just paint them on your stomach. So if you are 100 pounds overweight and expect to see rock-hard abs in a week, I wouldn't recommend this product. However, if you are trying to lose weight and/or already in good shape but have weak and underdeveloped abs, you may consider investing in this. How do I know this? This device sends vibration to your abs and has levels from 1 to 99, with 1 beaing weakest and 99 being the most intense. During the first few days, I couldn't handle the sensations over 50 as I felt like somebody grabbed me by my stomach and wouldn't let go, but now, I can easily handle vibrations over 85, which means my abs did become stronger than a month before!
Other things to consider: You will invest $150 into this and possible $15 per month on new pads as they slowly get stretched and deteriorate. With that type of investment, you can easily joiin a gym membership, if you think about it.
Bottom Line: A good buy if used properly but expensive considering the alternatives such as gym, where you can excersise your whole body, as Selndertone Flex just targets one part of the body.

Whether you're a casual exerciser, a senior, a fitness enthusiast, or someone facing physical challenges, The Slendertone Flex Abdominal Toning Belt for Men can help you build a stronger core foundation, add variety to your workouts, or enhance your training regimen. The Slendertone Flex system includes the belt, controller with four programs, three AAA batteries, three GelPads, travel pouch, and instruction manual. This belt fits waist sizes 27 to 47 inches.
Slendertone uses clinically proven, patent-pending C.S.I. (Concentrated Slendertone Innervation) technology to firm, tone and strengthen your entire midsection with patented medical-grade muscle stimulation technology. The unique construction of the Slendertone Flex features three pre-positioned, medical-grade GelPads, covering the central abdominal muscles and external obliques. Signals from the belt reach out to nerves where they are most concentrated. These nerves branch out to reach all the abdominal muscles (not just those under the pads) causing them to relax and contract naturally, exercising all the muscles at the same time.
Used regularly (as little as 30 minutes a day) in conjunction with a healthy diet and some moderate exercise, you will notice results within 8 weeks. You can wear the Slendertone Flex when you just don't have time in your hectic schedule to hit the gym or go for a run, or wear it during your workout for added emphasis.

BodyCraft Xpress Pro Home Gym Review

BodyCraft Xpress Pro Home Gym
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have lifted weights any way you can, free weights, cable stacks, and nautilus machines. All of them have their advantages and disadvantages. I have owned a home gym(a soloflex machine, a good machine because of the iron plate adaptability, up to 400 lbs)and I have also been a member of a good gym. I stopped using free weights because of lower back problems(loading and unloading plates puts direct stress on the lower back). In the gym I used nautilus machines mostly and cable stacks. The cables stacks are good with any exercise. The problem is the frame for the cable stacks is large and unless you are rich with a huge room reserved for exercising, owning a cable stack machine is not feasible. The nautilus machines are a different story. Some machines are good and some are not. The best nautilus machines I have used in the gym are the life fitness machines. These machines for some exercises are more difficult than free weights(unless your lifting huge weight, over 300 pounds on chest and legs). If you don't believe me use a life fitness chest press machine and set the weight to the same weight you lift using free weights and you will see. The bodycraft xpress pro is a composite of the cable stacks and the "life fitness type feel" machines in the gym. I have owned the bodycraft for a week and there is no home gym(and I have used several)that compares to this one. The price is steep, but if you are a member of a gym you will pay your gym fee monthly forever(if you are a true gym rat). The bodycraft xpress pro is a one time "fee" with a lifetime warranty on any cable or part. Company's don't do this if their machines are not top quality.(This would be bad business) The cable arms are just one of the features that makes this machine top of the line. These arms allow a full range of motion on any conceivable exercise(and there are over 50 with just this part of the machine alone, you can check a bodybuilding book to see this fact) The bench press arm completely adjusts to any size user for the flat(vertical) bench, incline bench, shoulder press, and seated row exercises. This provides the full range of motion for all of these exercises. The leg extension/leg curl exercises is also top quality on movement and range of motion. The lat pulldown feature allows for any type of pulldown movement and variation, all with full range of motion. The most impressive feature for me(a man who at one time was bench pressing 405 lbs, 8 fourty five pound plates plus the fourty five pound olympic bar) is the 2:1 feature which gives a benchpress of 400 lbs. This is the only home gym on the market I am aware of that can do this. If you don't think this machine is real, go to the bodycraft website([...]) and find a dealer in your area. If you are lucky they might have the machine already set up so you can see for yourself. I was able to do this. After trying the flat(vertical) bench and incline bench, brother was working up a sweat and breathing hard(felt good). If you can't find a dealer where you can try the machine you can take my word for it!!!!! There is only one drawback(if it applies to you). I am 6'3 and the ab station is uncomfortable for me even with the seat at the lowest point. The high pulley takes care of this for me. Attach the ab strap to the high pulley and perform the crunch like a cable crunch in the gym. Even when you think you have a problem with this machine you don't.
Simply the best

Shape your body, get strong, lose weight, and even improve your golf swing with the BodyCraft XPress Pro strength training system. The XPress Pro lets you perform a wide range of exercises, with stations for chest presses, shoulder presses, lat pulls, leg lifts, and more. The XPress Pro starts with a row/press arm that supports safe, machine-style bench presses, incline presses, shoulder presses, and seated rows. The leg extension/leg curl station, meanwhile, offers a convenient self-aligning feature that accommodates virtually any user. Add in the functional training/cable arms--which support more than 100 exercises--and you have a terrific gym for functional core training, sports-specific workouts, and rehabilitation exercises.
Users will also appreciate the XPress Pro's series of pulleys, which includes a mid pulley for ab crunches and tricep extensions, a high pulley for lat pulldowns and tricep pushdowns, and a low pulley with a foot plate for low rows, leg and hip exercises, arm curls, upright rows, and more. The XPress Pro uses these pulleys and cables to deliver unrestricted, completely natural, biomechanically correct movements. You define the path, providing for a greater, more natural range of motion that incorporates the use of stabilizer and core muscle groups, an advantage not found on typical home gyms. Finally, the XPress Pro includes a 200-pound weight stack that can be doubled to 400 pounds when combined with the leg press, which is cabled at a 1:2 ratio.
Construction features include 12-gauge steel tubing; flexible, nylon-coated aircraft cable rated at more than 2,000-pounds tensile strength; 4.5-inch-diameter, fiberglass-impregnated nylon pulleys with sealed ball bearings; 2-inch-thick high-density foam covered with double-stitched vinyl; chrome-plated 1-inch tubular steel guide rods; noise-dampening, perforated steel weight stack guards; and a platinum gray, powder-coated finish. The XPress Pro measures 56.5 by 83 by 82.9 inches (W x H x D) and comes with a lat pull bar, curl bar, ankle strap, and two single handles. It's also backed by a lifetime warranty.

Reebok Speed Pac 25-Pound Adjustable Single Dumbbell Review

Reebok Speed Pac 25-Pound Adjustable Single Dumbbell
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this after I started a weight loss regimen and wanted to incorporate some weight lifting. For the price, I can't complain but I want to make sure others out there know what I found out.
1) Sometimes you need to jiggle the knob to get it to lock for a weight.
2) The weights are good but if you don't hold it perfectly still and with proper form, they tend to clank. (which is a problem for me because I ususally get my workouts in during the early morning or late at night).
I am happy I bought these but wish there were a way to stop the clanking which is my biggest gripe with it. All in all, if you can't afford the PowerBlock or the BowFlex, this isn't a bad deal.

About Reebok Reebok's United Kingdom-based ancestor company was founded for one of the best reasons possible: athletes wanted to run faster. So, in the 1890s, Joseph William Foster made some of the first known running shoes with spikes in them. By 1895, he was in business making shoes by hand for top runners; and before long his fledgling company, J.W. Foster and Sons, developed an international clientele of distinguished athletes. In 1958, two of the founder's grandsons started a companion company that came to be known as Reebok, named for an African gazelle.

Leg Magic Exercise Machine Review

Leg Magic Exercise Machine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have not been in shape for quite some time, but having once run marathons and been in top physical form, I was yearning for a way to get back in the swing without jarring my knees and feet with jogging, running or jumping rope. I spotted a print ad for this machine in a local retailer's catalog, and immediately was drawn to the way it gently and without harsh impact, works your thighs, butt and legs. I have several herniated discs, suffer from double plantars fasciitis, and degenerating knee cartilage, so I was not about to invest in a machine that would keep me in pain from Day One. This is no such machine. In fact, I was able to keep up a pretty steady routine from the first week, provided I warmed up first, as the instruction manual states. It stores nicely in the corner, is not too heavy, and is sleek and attractive, even if you have a small space in which to keep it. I have not experienced any excessive pain in my back or feet, so the motion is not negatively impacting my health conditions. I work up a good sweat within minutes, so the cardio benefit is excellent. I am totally happy with this purchase and recommend it to anyone who wants a good aerobic workout and lower body exercise machine for their home. The instructional DVD is to the point, no fancy flipping acrobatics, and very easy to follow. Also includes diet and nutrition guideline booklet. Well worth the investment.

Develop size, strength, and power without paying through the nose for a monthly gym membership with the Lifeline TNT cable system. The TNT system comes with three 5-foot R4 cables that create about 40 pounds of resistance when pulled to double their resting length, making them good starting cables for people looking to improve their overall fitness. Also included is a pair of ergonomically designed triple grip handles, which allow you to connect up to three different plugged cables at once. As a result, you can use one, two, or three of the R4 cables at the same time, dramatically changing the resistance level for each exercise. Most importantly, the TNT system is extremely efficient. Kevin Pasquay, performance director at the Sports Science Center in Springfield, Pennsylvania, says that cable systems have proven superior to weights at developing size, strength, and power. According to studies, the TNT system can increase functional power by as much as 40 percent and cut body fat up to 30 percent more efficiently than weights. It's the only system you'll ever need, and it's more affordable and easier to store than most other home exercise equipment. And should you need additional resistance, you can purchase other TNT cables and fit them into the same handles.
The TNT cable system comes with a door attachment--a nylon webbing "plug" that's designed to be closed into a door, where it anchors your Lifeline fitness product. The door attachment is also outfitted with a protective sleeve that helps it hold up to heavy use. And to keep you challenged during your workouts, the cable system includes an instruction manual written by fitness expert Jon Hinds. Creator of the Monkey Bar Gym and former strength coach of the Los Angeles Clippers, Hinds walks you through many of the most essential cable exercises.
About Lifeline Bobby "Sugar" Hinds founded Lifeline USA in 1973 based on one simple product: his famous beaded jump rope. Known as the Jump Rope King, Hinds traveled across the U.S. promoting the benefits of his perfectly balanced, smooth-action, high-speed rope. He set records and created spectacles, and when he wasn't on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show, he was jumping alligators in Louisiana. The ambitious Lifeline founder took his jump rope from a backyard factory at the beginning to the hottest fitness product in Sears and JC Penney by 1976. His jump rope even made it onto the back of 12 million Wheaties boxes. Hinds expanded the product line to include the Lifeline portable gym in 1977, setting the stage for Lifeline's steady growth to the present. Offering more than 70 unique fitness products--many carrying patents--Lifeline posted record sales in 2007 and 2008.

Weider Olympic-Sized Chrome Tricep Bar Review

Weider Olympic-Sized Chrome Tricep Bar
Average Reviews:

This bar is just not very well made. The middle part is solid but on the 2 ends it just has a hallow thin piece of metal that goes around an inner bar. Its very light weight and kinda clanky. I returned and spent the extra 10 bucks for a better quality one. I bought it because the price and I always felt like weider products could be trusted. But it looks like weider is just in it for the money anymore, not quality.

P90X Chin-Up Bar Review

P90X Chin-Up Bar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After reading so many conflicting reviews on this product, I've decided to set the record straight. This product has taken an unfair beating mainly due to ignorant people writing reviews for the wrong product.
1) This product is the genuine Beachbody P90X pull-up bar. As the product description says, it is sold by Beachbody (producers of P90X) and fulfilled by Amazon. Other pull-up bars look just like this one and may be marketed as "ideal for P90X," but they have nothing to do with Beachbody. Those are generic brands that cost about half the price of this product. Many reviewers bought the generic bar, experienced problems with them (bad fasteners, foam that ripped, wobbly parts, etc), but then posted their review under this official Beachbody product. I received this product yesterday, assembled it, and saw no problems with it whatsoever. Details follow.
2) The pullup bar is easy to assemble. Many people complained that the instructions were very hard to follow. It's not. There are 5 unique shapes to this bar (you can count them out just by looking at the product picture) fastened by bolts. There are 8 long bolts and 2 slightly shorter bolts. A wrench and hex key are provided to tighten these bolts. All you do is stick the bolt through the holes and tighten the nut. The picture in the instructions show you how the pieces go together. I assembled the bar in about 10 minutes, and I only used the instruction manual to make sure I used the 2 short bolts in the right place. All other holes use the same long bolt. There are no left- or right-specific parts.
3) This pull-up bar does NOT require the included mounting brackets. These brackets are included for additional safety. If you are applying any weight to the bar, it is impossible for it to slip off the casing of your doorway. In fact, weight hanging from the bar makes it even more secure. This is because the design of the bar creates a force that diverts your weight into a horizontal direction (the way you're facing when you hang on it), and the bar on the opposite side of the door applies an equal but opposite force the other direction. In other words, by hanging on the bar, the bar is squeezing the depth of the door. This is why you may cause a dent in your casing along the sides of the door. The only way to remove the bar from the doorway casing is to push up on the bar. If you're hanging on the bar, there's no way to cause a net upward force to dislodge the bar from its death-pinch on the doorway. You'd have to push off from something solid, or you have to be making some very extreme jerky motions with your body.
4) The correctly assembled product is sturdy and does not rattle, flex, or wiggle in any way. You may notice some abrasion noise from where the main bar (the long, one-piece bar that spans about 41" across) rests on the side casing of your doorway. The material on the bar is plastic and resembles a handlebar on a bike. I wrapped some of the protective packing foam that came with the packaging around the "handlebars" and it stopped all noise.
5) According to the product description, "the P90X fits doorways up to 32 inches wide and requires a sturdy doorframe with trim. The doorway should be a minimum of 5 inches wide and a maximum of 6.5 inches." The product was clearly designed for a standard 32" doorway opening with 2.5" colonial casing around the door. If your casing is fancier/wider, such as Stafford or Windsor styles, you may have a tighter fit. Based on my observations, this product will work safely up to an opening width of 36". The depth recommendation of 5" - 6.5" is accurate. Depending on the opening width of your door, you may get indentations in your casing from protruding parts of the bar. This is especially true if your doorway is between 29 and 31". The U-shape piece of the bar may rest directly on the casing, causing the dent. If your doorway is narrower than 29", you'll encounter no issues, since you'll likely have foam cushioning your casing.
6) The foam handles on this bar appear to be the durable kind. Years ago, I bought a generic bar that came with foam that lost its shape and eventually tore off the bar from use. This beachbody bar's foam feels firm, holds its shape after use, and appears to be durable. I can't attest to its longevity until I use it more.
I was torn between this product and the "Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar - Extreme Edition," which was recommended by several reviewers. As far as I can tell, that bar is also a decent one, and it costs less. I ended up getting the beachbody bar because the main bar (41" long) is one-piece. Is that worth an additional $33? Probably not. I didn't see people complaining about any structural issues with the Iron Gym. I figured I'd pay a bit extra for the the all-black bar, a purely aesthetic preference, and support Beachbody, the company that produced the awesome workout program P90X. If you're on a budget, I'm sure the Iron Gym would be an excellent choice as well.

Built for durability and comfort, the P90X chin-up bar is the ultimate fitness training tool for strengthening and developing your shoulders, back, arms, abs, and more. The P90X--which mounts easily to any doorframe to become your own personal gym--features a patented design with 12 grip positions. As a result, you can build multiple muscle groups with a variety of exercises, with the wide-grip positions challenging your upper lats, biceps, and forearm muscles (among many), and the narrow-grip positions putting more emphasis on your lower lats.
The P90X bar is also comfortable on the hands thanks to the professional-grade, foam-covered handles, which won't cramp your hands as quickly as steel handles. And once you're done with your workout, it takes just a few minutes to safely remove the P90X and store it under a bed or in a closet. There's no better way to take your upper-body workout to the next level. Made of heavy-gauge steel that holds up to 300 pounds, the P90X fits doorways up to 32 inches wide and requires a sturdy doorframe with trim. The doorway should be a minimum of 5 inches wide and a maximum of 6.5 inches.

Pops Locks & Layers with Sadie and Kaya - Belly Dance DVD Review

Pops Locks and Layers with Sadie and Kaya - Belly Dance DVD
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am starting off with the performance first. It was awkward to say the least. Kaya was off during a good amount of the performance. Sadie had some mishaps too. The moves looked out of place, like they just wanted to show them off. Sadie and Kaya are not emotional dancers in the sense of say Ranya, but usually I get something from their performance. They usually excel in making the choreography interesting to watch, but this performance was uninteresting to watch. The performance looked like a rehash of the pops, locks and shimmies one and two performances thrown in, with a few new moves. I am shocked. Sadie and Kaya are usually on point with their movements looking smooth and well controlled, as well as synced to their musical selection. If I had to summarize the performance it would be rushed and uninspiring.

The outfits were not a good choice. It did not let the moves be show cased , as so much of their torso was covered.
The Title menu is the usual pops, and locks format. Play, Chapters, About IAMED, about belly dance, Dancers tips and quick list. The chapters menu is broken down a little differently from the rest of the Pops and locks installments. The backdrop is blue, on the left side you have a screen that is demonstrating some of the contents in the chapter and the title of what you are working on is under the demonstration. On the right side there is a list of the different sections. I liked this new layout of the PLL DVD.
In the First Chapter you have Chest movements, which includes Horizontal, Vertical, Vertical with hips, Horizontal with Hips, Horizontal with ups, and Vertical with ups,Combination1 and 2. Combination 1 has horizontal and vertical chest circles with ups. Combination 2-has horizontal and vertical chest squares with ups < A LOT OF THIS INFORMATION WAS COVERED ON SADIE'S OTHER DVD'S.> Ups and downs with chest lift and drops, Ups with chest circles. Chest squares with ups. Big overlap '
I liked the backdrop when they are teaching, the curtains and floor are a dark grey. The lighting is wonderful though and Sadie and Kaya are wearing the same blue practice outfits as in there other video, so even though the background is dark you can clearly see the movements without a problem.
Vertical figure8' s chapter is next, Maya's and sways, I have also heard sways being called upward mayas. Layers with chest locks=Mayas and sways with chest locks. Vertical 8's traveling=Traveling with mayas and sways.-I liked the walking to the side with sways. Then comes Chase with Mayas and sways. Combination 3 = mayas with a lock, followed by a chest circle with a slide, sway with a pop, and undulation with a pelvic pop. Combination 4=3/4 sways and Maya's with chest pops and locks. I enjoyed this section. I liked some of the combo's and drills used. Esp traveling with Maya's and sways. The DVD's I do have from Sadie do not overlap much with the information presented here.
Inward pelvic circle (Umi), Changing starting beats=hip locks and pops with umi's, traveling with Ipc= walking with med tempo umi's .Layer one=Umi with a reverse undulation. Layer 2=umi with undulation, then they blend the undulation and reverse undulation into the umi. Combination 5= layering inward pelvic circle with outward pelvic circles, on releve, followed by a reverse undulation on the back. Combination 6= Pas de bouree with umis. I enjoyed this section as well.
Outward Pelvic box=Tahitian move that is on Sadie's recent choreography DVD
Combination 7=Tahitian box , Grapevine hip square locks with, combination 8=grapevine layered with changing starting beat Tahitian box. Then you have half a tahitian box with chest lock up, chest pop down, then the other side with a chest lock up and down.* I adore this combo*
The quicklist, I am not too sure is on the other Pops, and Locks but it is like a compressed root menu. You can easily select what part of the DVD you want to go to from there. Without being shown a demo.
This DVD is not for beginners, there isn't any precise breakdown of the movements. The objective is not so much drilling movements like pls 1 seems to be but layering movements, so things move a bit faster on this DVD. Again the breakdown of movement is minimal.
I am unsure about this DVD, while there was some new and nice material covered almost ¼ of the DVD overlaps with other DVD's that I have. Sadie and Kaya are very good instructors as usual and freely shared information that they have. Had the price been lower this DVD definitely would be worth it, but since the price range is $40.OO+ shipping and handling I am not so sure.
Whether or not this DVD is worth the price depends on where you are in your dance and DVD collection. Beginner and beginner intermediates, this DVD may be too much as there is very little break down or drilling of individual movements to help you really get the layers down. Intermediate to advanced dancers who do not have a Sadie collection would probably get the most from this.Had IAMED had a longer preview, I would have skipped this DVD. This is not an absolute must DVD.

Bowflex Blaze Home Gym Review

Bowflex Blaze Home Gym
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First of all, I have the Bowflex Sport, which is the same as the Blaze just with different trim and labels, but which is being discontinued to Bowflex (however if you can find one they are cheaper than the Blaze).
Before I get into my tips, I'll give a brief review. I've had this machine for 10 months now and I am mostly pleased with it. I started out as a computer desk nerd with no strength and I've worked up to about average guy strength - I can bench about 200 bowflex pounds now, more than twice what I started at. So it works - just don't expect the miracles they advertise. The best thing about it is that is uses a pully system which makes it extremely versatile. The worst thing is the bows, which are elastic. If you can find a machine that uses pulleys like the Bowflex but has a weight stack instead of bows, that would be best, but I don't think there is one in this price range.
Now for the tips.
1. The bows work by stretching, and can get stretched out of shape like a rubber band. So make sure you tie them back with the included strap after every workout. If you mess up and stretch them out, you *could* try connecting them to the opposite hook and leaving them like that for a couple of days. I did this and it seemed to fix the issue.
2. By the same token, the resistance varies with temperature. I found this out by accident when my AC stopped working. The temp went up by 10 degrees and I was suddenly able to lift about 10% more.
3. The bows are not like physical weights. The resistance changes from easy at the beginning of the motion to hard at the end. Also I believe they are overall lighter than physical weights.
4. The weight labels on the bows don't add up mathematically. For example, 30lbs + 10lbs + 10lbs is much "lighter" than the 50lb bow. So while you are making gains you should actually increase from 45 to 30 + 10 + 10 to 30 + 10 + 10 + 5 to 50 instead of jumping directly from 45 to 50. Another way to think of it in your head is that the 50lb is actually 60-ish in Bowflex units. This is also true for the jump from 25 to 30. Since there are only 2 10lbs weights I get around this by doing extra reps at 25 until I can finally do a full set at 30. You could also try raising the room temperature by about 5 degrees which should soften them up to start, and gradually increase it with each workout.
4. Despite what Dr. Bowflex says, the machine just isn't made for a cardio. I got a schwinn exercise bike to compensate for this. I immediately noticed being able to have longer workouts due to my increasing cardiovascular endurance.
5. The manual also states not to rest more than a minute between each exercise. I did this at first, but then (anecdotally) I discovered that if I rested longer in order to catch my breath, I could do more reps and make faster gains.
6. Certain exercises just don't work that well - basically anything involving legs, feet, or cardio. The supposed rows are not even worth it. Also the leg curls are very awkward. The manual does not even describe how to do them but according to an old manual I found on the net, you need to lie halfway on the leg station seat and halfway on the bench (the opposite exercise - I forget the name - let's call it "leg raise" - does work rather well though). Finally the leg press might be worth it after you upgrade to 310 or 410 pounds, but at 210 even someone completely out of shape might find them wanting - mainly because your legs are the strongest part of your body, even on a sedentary person. On top of this it is hard to get the leg press strap to stay in place when you are first getting into position.
7. In my case there were some exercises that hurt my joints. I've never had joint injuries that I know if, so it may just be my body shape. I'm pretty sure I did them correctly. However, in the manual it lists the muscle groups of each motion. Instead of trying exercises that hurt, I picked others that would exercise the same groups.

Multiple Machines in One Device The Blaze home gym is similar to having a whole resistance training gym tucked right into your den. Bowflex's lat tower with angled lat bar helps build back and shoulder muscles quickly, and the lower pulley/squat station enables you to do squats and build your glutes, hamstrings and quads. In addition, the Blaze is equipped with a leg extension/leg curl attachment that helps develop strong, muscular legs, and the sliding seat rail allows you to perform aerobic rowing and leg presses to improve your cardiovascular health. And instead of different handles for every exercise, Bowflex has designed triple-function handgrips and ankle cuffs with multiple cable/pulley positions that encourage custom workouts. But if custom workouts isn't your cup of tea, Bowflex also includes a workout placard that steps you through the famous Bowflex 20-minute workout.
Power Rod Technology Bowflex Power Rods give you resistance, or weight, that feels as good as or better than free weight lifting -- but without the inertia or risk of joint pain that is almost always associated with free weight strength training. Power Rod units are precisely manufactured under the highest quality control measures, then sheathed and tested four separate times to ensure quality and durability. Bowflex is convinced that the Power Rod units are so strong that you simply can't wear them out. You can flex them repeatedly, but they won't lose their resistance or break. In fact, they're so strong, Bowflex has given the Power Rods a no-time-limit warranty. If you can wear the Power Rods out, Bowflex will replace them for free.
The Key to a Better Body strength training is when you perform exercises with resistance to build muscle strength. Strength training is not running on a treadmill, riding a stationary bike, or using a ski or rider machine. Although these types of aerobic machines use "resistance" to increase cardiovascular workout intensity, it is still not the same as strength training. strength training is, essentially, weight lifting. But don't be discouraged; you don't have to get bulky muscles if you don't want to. With Bowflex Blaze you can shape and sculpt your muscles to make your body look the way you want. It just takes persistence and dedication.
Why does strength training work better than aerobics for getting fit and losing fat? Because the more muscles you have on your body, the higher your metabolism rate, and the more calories you burn. Muscle also creates the shape of your body -- muscle is what makes you move, it's what gives you energy and strength. Of course, this doesn't mean you should abandon your aerobic exercise -- cardiovascular exercise is necessary for a healthy body -- but the combination of aerobic and strength training will help you achieve your fitness goals. Muscle acts as your body's fat burners. It's the stuff that makes you active and makes you burn calories. If you want to lose fat, you need to strength train with the Bowflex Blaze to add muscles, burn calories, and look fantastic.
What's in the Box? Bowflex Blaze home gym, lat bar, leg extension/leg curl attachments, triple-function handgrips and ankle cuffs, 20-minute workout placard, and owner's manual/fitness guide.
Manufacturer's Warranty Five-year limited warranty on commercial quality construction and lifetime warranty on Power Rods

STS - Mesocycle #3 + 4 Optional Leg - Squat Rack Routines (12 DVD set) Review

STS - Mesocycle #3 + 4 Optional Leg - Squat Rack Routines (12 DVD set)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the third cycle in Cathe's Shock Training System (STS). You're lifting 80-90% of your 1 rep max and it's tough! I love all the Mesocycles, but this one is by far my favorite because it makes me feel so strong. I also love the Squat Rack Routine for legs; there's a different routine for each of the four weeks of Mesocycle 3.
What I especially loved about this DVD set:
**It's inspiring to see my progress. I followed the suggestion to continually increase my weights by 5% and I successfully lifted 90% of my one rep max.
**It works! I'm lifting heavier than I have ever lifted, even heavier than when I was working out with a personal trainer. I'm also more toned than I have ever been.
**The rest periods. The 3 minute rest between each set for a body part really helped me lift heavy with good form for the entire workout.
**The Squat Rack routines really shaped my legs like nothing else; they were more effective for me than the Plyo Leg routines.
Some things to note about this Mesocycle:
**Since you are lifting very heavy, you need to be extra safe. For chest presses and chest flies, I didn't lift my heaviest because I didn't have a spotter and I didn't feel safe lifting on my own. I was afraid the weights would come crashing down on my face with the chest presses. With the chest flies, I was afraid I was going to tweak my shoulders.
**It takes some creativity to lift heavy for the Squat Rack leg routines. I don't have a squat rack, so I improvised with a weighted vest, weights in a knapsack and a weighted belt (created by stringing two ankle weight belts together). I did all this so I didn't have to lift more than 45 pounds on my barbell.
**The rest periods can seem very long, especially if you're used to doing more endurance type workouts and moving quickly from one exercise to the next. I love heavy weight training so the rest periods didn't seem too long to me.
**Cathe keeps talking after the rest period is over. This is when she'll give form pointers for the upcoming exercise. I usually start the set as soon as the time is up. Otherwise, my arms fatigue from holding the weights and I can't finish my reps. She should give those form pointers during the rest period.
**the target weight calculations are too low by 1-2 pounds. It's odd since the calculations in the other two mesocycles are accurate. I went through and manually recalculated my target weight so that I was truly lifting my maximum weight.
**You'll most like need extra sleep during this mesocycle. You're putting a lot of strain on your body and you need time to recover.
I highly recommend this mesocycle as a way to really build up your strength. For best results, I suggest doing all three mesocycles and taking the time to calculate your one rep max.

Includes all 12 DVDs from mesocycle #3 plus the 4 optional Leg - Squat rack routines. Included: 1. STS mesocycle #3 + 4 bonus Leg - Squat Rack DVDs (16 DVD set)Mesocycle 3 is all about strength and divided into the 3 muscle groupings with 4 workouts per grouping:#1 Chest and Back#2 Shoulders, Biceps and Triceps#3 LegsYou'll lift weights that are 80-90% of your 1RM during these four weeks. Your rep range will be around six to eight reps for most exercises. This method will allow your different muscle groups to always have at least two to three minutes of rest, which research shows is the minimum necessary time to replenish the body's various energy cycles needed for a high intensity workout. The first week you are going to do four sets of eight reps for every exercise, resting two to three minutes between each set of the same muscle group. Do the same for weeks two and three, but increase your weight by 5% for each workout and decrease your reps by one. On your fourth and final workout for this mesocycle, you will do eight reps again, just as in week one, but you'll use the weight you used in your second workout. If everything goes as planned you should be 5% stronger at the end of this mesocycle. The Plyo-Workout is for those who don't own a squat rack and will focus on explosive strength utilizing plyometric moves mixed with traditional leg strength training exercises. If you wish to follow a true strength program and want to follow the same 5% Method used in the upper body workouts in this cycle, then select the Squat Rack workout option.

Cathe Friedrich's Low Impact Step + Total Body Sculpting DVD Review

Cathe Friedrich's Low Impact Step + Total Body Sculpting DVD
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I like this low impact workout. It's a switch in pace for Cathe but it's still a fun and challenging workout. You will definately burn fat and calories here. The step workout is about 29-30 minutes and then there is a toning segment too. It is more geared toward a less advanced exerciser, but everyone will get benefits from this. The cardio features faster/slower intervals and has lots of interesting-but-doable combos (e.g. "around the world," "rocking horse" - which aren't new). It's mostly low impact, but does have some higher-impact bursts. In the toning segment, you will use a stability ball for almost all of the exercises. You also need some weights too. I enjoy doing this, and as I said earlier - it is fun and motivating. Go get this and do it 4 times a week along with other dvds to keep up your interest.

The instalation of the pull up chin up bar was fairly simple. It is very sturdy only complaint was it was missing a couple of wood screws easy to replace. The resistance bands work well and with 5 different bands for adjustable resistance the variety will give me plenty of room to grow. Over all it is a really great product for the price!
